2 and a half stars for the art and music, -2.5 for just being cryptic, weird , and ultimately being an NFT advertisement strategy

krimpfugly responds:

cryptic and weird, absolutely. new to the engine so art and music...2.5 is as good as it gets! But what elements made it seem like NFT marketing?

Pretty interesting game, the setting was cute and the art was nice, though I did notice something that needed to be improved, the controls why absolutely fluid as hell did lack a bit because you couldn't jump while moving diagonally(e.g. pressing 2 directional buttons at once) that would've been fine if it wasn't for the other issue, the red thorns have a bizarre hurtbox, you get killed by them no matter the jump trajectory or jump height it was very difficult to get over them I since I had to jump around them , not over them like I think you're supposed to. Nevertheless I did enjoy my time

PS:Ah that makes sense then, they did feel like they were supposed to be walls but I wasn't sure, and also I wasn't using a controller just a keyboard, but maybe it's just a me thing

Dylanbrowngames responds:

you are supposed to jump around them! I just couldn’t show a big wall of spikes going up really heigh in a 2d game because it would be hard to read, they just work like a spike in a side on platformer would since it made funner levels. And the not being able to jump going diagonally is a bug no one else has told me about, where you using a controller? Edit: I just added an update that makes the spikes get bigger so they look like they are going higher when you jump near them to hopefully give a better idea that you can't jump over them. There's a chance that your keyboard might only let you have a certain amount of inputs at a time, or that game maker is just messing up. I imagine it is quite hard trying to play without easy diagonal jumps so thanks for giving it a try!

I just knew that this was composed by Dryest the moment I heard the ost

I'm really sorry to say this but I didn't really enjoy this one, something about it just doesn't make it feel right to play for me, it's kind of janky on the control department and not that fun to be honest, I'm absolutely sure a lot of effort went into this but I just am not feeling this piece

migmoog responds:

Who knew my heart could feel so brown 🤎

You might wanna update the Itch.io/ windows download version because they don't have the same controls as the NG version. I couldn't even find the heal button on that one

Post Update addendum: The game was pretty fun from what I played, the animation were very fluid and the gameplay was good from what I could gather(granted I did play on a keyboard so I'm not playing on the intended experience). I was very surprised that this very early alpha had 2 small secrets of its own, one being able to defeat the chieftain and the other was unlocking the unlucky person at the beginning as a companion

Tyler responds:

Oh WOOPS- nice catch. Thank you for spotting that. Link updated

Here's the proper version: https://realmraiders.itch.io/rr-combat-demo

Author Post-Update Addendum: Thanks for the feedback. Keyboard definitely needs a boost. Nice finds on the secrets. There's also one more secret yet to find!

This was very cute, the art was great and the writing was really sweet. Best of luck with the game

Warxwell responds:

Glad you like it, thanks!

An interesting game, liked the dread impending atmosphere though I didn't really know what to do so I screwed up my first run.
There's a small problem for me that the game doesn't seem to lock when you click on it, if you press the arrow keys the page will move up and down as well

ImmanentDeath responds:

Oh no I forgot to lock the page scroll. I'll fix that real quick, thanks for letting me know.

Just doing what I can to the best of my abilities
